My 10-year-old self longed for this
I was a pretty lonely kid.
I had one good friend at school (hi, Megan) and one good friend outside of school (hi, Julia), and that was about it. I went to a Catholic school, but I wasn’t Catholic—and I definitely wasn’t sporty. I was a kid who loved books and writing plays, talking to fairies, making potions, and hiding under the shrubbery to think.
The other kids weren’t exactly into those things.
One of my dominant memories from childhood is begging—begging—to be homeschooled. All I wanted was school without the social part. I wanted the learning, the thinking, the ideas.
And if I could show my life now to that 10-year-old version of me, she wouldn’t believe it.
Today, I’m surrounded by the most exquisite, brilliant, talented, and loving people. Friends who will help with family logistics at a moment’s notice. Women I can call to spitball sales funnels or walk in the woods. A network so abundant, it takes my breath away.
I feel so lucky to be in community with people who are not only brilliant at what they do—but also deeply kind, generous, and fun. And I want you to meet them.
So, we’re making that happen.
Introducing The Portal — a monthly gathering for spiritual, wellness, and creative entrepreneurs in the D.C. area.
Each month, I’ll lead a short activation to help us drop in and connect on a deeper level—and then we’ll move into guided networking, genuine conversation, and (of course) snacks. Because everything’s better with snacks.
Our first gathering is 10 - 11:30 a.m. on December 8.
If you’re in the D.C. area and want to be in a room full of smart, soulful, supportive people—come join us. You’ll leave inspired, connected, and probably with a few new friends who feel like they’ve known you forever.
What if you’re not a spiritual, wellness, or creative entrepreneur?
Listen, come anyway! We’re longer table, not higher fence people. So if this sounds like a good time, don’t worry about meeting certain criteria. Come enjoy some snacks and bevvies and bask in being in the company of other brilliant people.
Because, DC folks, we need each other right now. We need community. We need a network that holds each other up. I know so many of you have been RIFed, furloughed, laid off, or are worried about what may be coming down the pike. Things might be tough, but we can ease each other's load. And this is one joyful way to do that.
Please R.S.V.P. by hitting reply and letting me know you’ll be there. And spread the word!
I promise you belong, and I cannot wait to get you all in the same room.
P.s. I’ve been back in the podcast game and loving it! My most recent interview was with Kay'aleya Hunnybee, host of the Herbal Womb Wisdom Podcast.
