How do you feel about Valentine’s Day?

It’s never been a huge thing for me, but my daughters are all in. Glitter, cards, pink and red everything, hearts everywhere. I love it through their eyes.

With the love vibes permeating every part of my house, I started thinking:

Valentine’s Day is actually a perfect excuse to show my business some love.

At The Portal on Monday, a group of entrepreneurs and creatives gathered around a big table where we made Valentines for our businesses while sipping hot chocolate and eating berries and croissants. Alongside the crafting, we paused for a few simple conversation prompts — touch points to reflect on our relationship with our work.

Because here’s what doesn’t work:

Trying to extract, extract, extract —
and expecting your business to keep delivering when you’re not pouring into it with care.

A business is not a vending machine. It’s a relationship.

So today, I want to share the prompts we used, along with a few of the reflections that came up in the room, listed below.

I’d love to invite you to create your own mini-Portal moment.

Hey sweet business…

  • What I love about you is…

    • How you are developing to reframe how my clients see themselves

    • You are ever-changing

    • How you keep stretching me. All the time.

    • You are cute & kind & sweet & make people happy!

    • Meeting new people

    • That you speak up and tell me all your cool ideas

    • That you are stretching my mind in the most joyful ways

  • This is how I’m going to show you some love this month…

    • File my annual report paperwork

    • Book a CEO day to carve time for Big Thinking

    • I am going to focus on revenue and be more authentic

    • Write conference applications without stress

    • Define you on paper and make a plan

    • Building and testing the structure/embodying its meaning

    • Put some testimonials on my site about how my clients feel about you

  • Thank you for…

    • Coming to life

    • Helping me grow into this version of myself

    • Picking me to partner with!

    • Helping me find meaning and purpose

    • Creating a writing community

    • Keeping me honest and reflective

    • Letting me help people the way I do <3

    • All the growth

  • I feel most connected to you when…

    • Making time to talk about art

    • I take time to slow down and listen to you

    • I am embodying the peace that I’m trying to spread with you <3

    • I think about how fun you are

    • I am feeling the relief of my my clients from the messages you offer

    • It’s quiet

Maybe you make a Valentine for your business.
Maybe you write it a love letter and place that on your altar.
Maybe you think about how you could show it a little extra love this month.
Doesn’t that sound delicious?

However you choose to do it, I’d love to hear what comes up.

Message me and tell me.
